Flat Wart Removal

Posted by Walter on August 4th, 2010
1. Do not picking on them, picking on your warts will only spread them to other areas of your body which are not infected.
2. Check your local drug store and get an over-the-counter medicine that can be used to treat flat warts, the composition of these medicines includes a chemical that dries up the outer portion of skin making it easier to peel it off.
3. If the warts are bothersome and annoying, schedule an appointment with your doctor, he can either freeze or burn the warts off, or hand you a prescription for medication that will best treat your warts.
4. If prescription gets costly and impractical, do your own research and check some alternative treatments, you can tape a small piece of the inside of a banana peel to the wart and sleep with it nightly for two weeks straight or make a paste from crushed vitamin C tablets by adding a little water and applying it directly to the wart for two weeks. You may try placing some crushed or sliced garlic on the wart for a week while sleeping.
5. If all else fails, just wait for your flat warts to go away, when the warts are left alone, most of them will disappear on their own within two years.
Just remember that the secret to flat wart removal is persistence, don’t get tired of continuing the treatment until all traces of the wart infection are gone.  Always use fresh towels and washcloths when bathing and drying off.

Types of Warts and Their Treatment

Posted by Walter on August 3rd, 2010
Verruca Vulgaris- also known as the common wart, this type shows as a thickened bump of skin often with a rough surface often has small spots from clotted blood vessels usually found on the hands, elbow and knees.
Flat Warts- name suggests this wart is quite a flat bump on the skin usually brown or skin colored mainly seen mainly on women’s faces.
Plantar Warts- most annoying wart as they grow only on the feet and can be very painful. They tend to be large and flat growing into the skin than out of the skin. Many cases have reported it spreading too much of the foot.
Genital Warts- often like common warts, though they appear in the region around the genitals, there is a chance that some subtypes of these warts can become cancerous. It should be seen by a doctor who can determine if this might be the case.
There are many over the counter remedies that can cure warts. People find themselves resistant to such treatments and have to rely on more drastic action. Other such methods of wart removal are cryotherapy where a doctor literally freezes your wart with liquid nitrogen. This is not a good choice for Plantar warts as the resulting sore from the process is often more painful.
Another method of treatment is using salicylic acid. It involves soaking the wart then cutting it slightly to apply the acid. You must keep the surrounding skin safe with petroleum jelly. This process must be repeated day after day until it is gone.
